1We Art Auction
Art with a special story
1We Art Auction is a large scale awareness project with art being the central element. The website demonstrates artwork of high quality. Behind every artwork there is a special story: the art is made by artists from development countries and bought by 1We for a fair price.
This way the creator is given a chance to build up a decent artist life. When a work of art is sold the profits go to the development projects of 1We (65%), the creation of awareness through the 1We broadcast station and internet (20%) and the 1We-organization (15%).
The Dutch formal minister of development cooperation, Agnes van Ardenne, inaugurated the auction website in June 2006. With the unique initiative of art auction One World Experience contributes to a more positive world in a different way. It’s a new kind of development cooperation which cuts both ways: by buying you will be the proud owner of a very special piece of artwork and at the same time you will be supporting the artist and the projects of 1We. In this art project the focus group are the readers of lifestyle magazines.
Virtual museum
The auction site exists of two different parts: a virtual museum and the art auction part. ‘Walking’ through the museum, the visitor will be introduced to the artwork and their artists. By clicking on a work of art you will enter the auction part where you can make an offer on one or more artworks at the time. After a few weeks the highest bidder will become the owner of the work.
The collection exists of artwork from all over the world, such as Kenya, Suriname, South Africa, Brazil, Cameroon, Togo and Zimbabwe. By making worldwide contacts 1We has been able to construct an exceptional collection of paintings, sculptures and photo art.
To role out the 1We Art Auction € 30,000 is needed. Companies can participate by:
• Investing in the acquisition of new artworks.
• Organizing an art auction in your company for your own network and clients.
• Investing to position the site worldwide through diverse marketing tools.
